W-W

I've been doing some work experience in London over the last couple of weeks at a branding/marketing company called Walford-Wilkie so thought I'd share abit about the company.  They offer marketing strategies as well as various creative services which include image development, brochures and full collateral support, off/online advertising, web design, online marketing, packaging design and events.  They specialise in luxory branding.  Clients include 'Boodles' (a jewellers) and since I've been here much of the current work has been for them and developing a new website for them, the concept has been to create a 'Boodles World' within the site which works like a goods carousel that you can freely move around in 3 dimensions.   I also went to an event that Boodles sponsored in order to help set up shots for the photographer for use in next years brochure.  I've found it very useful to be here and find it relates directly to our first semester module about adding value as that is essentially what they are doing here.  Other interesting clients have included Redbull, Veuve-Clicquot and The Spectator.  It is a small company based in Percy Street, London, with two creative directors completing all the design work whom I have been working with.  It's not the area of design that I would eventually want to end up in but I have taken a lot away from the experience.

Mumbai Taxi

Thanks to the April issue of CR I learned about the impressive typography used to decorate the Taxis of Mumbai ever so desperate to compete with one and other for customers.  Worth looking at the full article at http://www.creativereview.co.uk/cr-blog/2009/march/the-cr-taxi

Ecodazoo

Japanese website encouraging people to live a greener lifestyle using a strange animal world to do so.  Very interesting use of flash to create the 3d world.

The RareKind Gallery

Been to this new gallery in Bethnal Green a few times recently.  I find some of the work really inspiring and relevant to the style I'm pursuing as a designer.  A lot of the work is produced by ex-graffiti artists and it is clear to see that in the style of it.  All work there has been produced free hand or has been screen printed.
